Radio monitoring
LOG.IN - Servizi e Sistemi Avanzati per L'Elettronica SrL is involved in the manufacturing of HF-VHF-UHF integrated systems aimed at:
- The surveillance and monitoring of the spectrum, for COMINT/SIGINT applications
- The detection and radio-location of RF sources interfering services characterized by a huge operational impact
- Monitoring the intensity of radiated e.m. fields in order to verify the observance of the limits stated by the Italian Law in the D.M. 381 - 10.9.1998
SHIELD - Airport Radio Interference Monitoring System
SHIELD has the task of monitoring and surveilling radio transmission used by the ATC (Air Traffic Control) service provider in an airport environment.
The technology of SHIELD is directly derived from the SIGINT (Signal Intelligence) world through the use of mathematical algorithms that can reveal and detect the Signal Of Interest (SOI) even in a hostile radio electric environment.
SHIELD is the clearest example of how a technology conceived for military purposes can be used in a civil application. Its technology was developed in a research project financed by the Italian Defense Department and Segredifesa/DNA in the National Plan for Military Research (PNRM).
The system performs:
- the monitoring of airport transmission in the frequency band ranging from 20 MHz up to 3000 MHz
- the detection and the radio-location of unauthorized RF transmitters interfering in the Communications, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) systems of the airport
- the generation of alarms for the operators should any abnormal situation (interference) appear
The SHIELD system is fully operational in the Rome "Leonardo Da Vinci" International Airport Rome.
AMS - Antenna Management Software
AMS is a decision support system that helps to find the right HF antenna (chosen from those in the customer’s antenna park) to fit the best radio link possible.
The system is based on a Oracle DB server and stores, according to frequency, both diagrams of real radiation for each antenna and mutual coupling values of the same antenna with the other surrounding antennas.
The choice of antenna is made on the basis of the other side's position, propagation foreseeable data, antenna performance, and mutual coupling values of the same antenna with the other surrounding antennas.
AMS con be interfaced to EPM - Electromagnetic Permanent Monitoring. This latter allows the simulation of the global e.m. field and so it provides a further condition for the selection of the most suitable antenna (i.e. the values of the electromagnetic field in the areas accessible to the personnel).
AMS has been provided to the Italian Navy for the management of the antenna field of the Radio Station in Rome.
EPM - Electromagnetic Permanent Monitoring System
The system can collect into a secure DB the values of Electromagnetic Fields detected by sensors deployed in the controlled area. These values are compared with the threshold values for alarming purposes.
When EPM is integrated with AMS - Antenna Management Software, it allows the user to predict electromagnetic scenarios. Simulations run in accordance with the Italian law limit (as stated in the D.M. 381 - 10.9.1998). Every parameter of the antennas can be easily adapted via a user friendly software interface.
EPM has been provided to the Italian Navy for the monitoring of the e.m. field radiated by the Radio Station in Rome.
